LORD, Revive Us Again

Scripture Reference: Psalm 85:2-7

”Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, Thou hast covered all their sin. Selah. Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: Thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger. Turn us, O God of our salvation, And cause thine anger toward us to cease. Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? Wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations? Wilt thou not revive us again: That thy people may rejoice in thee? Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, And grant us thy salvation.“ ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭85‬:‭2‬-‭7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In this particular passage of Scriptures, the writer is recounting the endless mercy of GOD towards His creations and at the same time pleads with GOD on behalf of a people who had lost their way. Now when I say “had lost their way”, I’m speaking in reference to a lack of respect or reverence of GOD. The writer asked how long will GOD be angry, and will His anger carry on through the generations to come. However, there was a change of thinking that took place once the writer asked Him when would He revive His creations again? Which brings us to a focal point within ourselves.. LORD, revive me again!!!

It’s no wonder the enemy seemingly gains ground on us as we go about each passing day focusing more on our current circumstances, anxious about the future, distracted by rising costs of living, the threat of global war, that relationship that left us broken, gossip (in every form), having more when we already have enough (of what we need), chasing love, happiness and acceptance from everyone else but GOD and last but certainly not least, being pridefully noticed by others.

”And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not? I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee. When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain; and shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.” Isaiah‬ ‭57‬:‭11‬-‭14‬ KJV

GOD is speaking to us His creations asking us all why we don’t fear Him anymore, and why have we placed everything else before Him only fooling ourselves that the little time out of our “busy schedules” that we spend with Him (if at all) is pleasing to Him. He says that He has been patient with us and continues to be and has done so since long, long, long ago. He then warns what will happen when He grows tired and what will become of those of us who are habitual offenders that continue to disregard Him. Then by His grace only, He promises what will be for those of us who finally realize that in turning completely to Him who gives us the strength day to day, trusting in Him the GOD of our salvation and asking Him to take the people, places and things out of our lives that cause us to lose sight of Him.

Final Thought: ”I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners. I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.“

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭57‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

GOD promised to heal us (that broken heart), lead us (through the storms of life), restore us (who need comforting), cause our very words to speak love and grace towards others, and bring peace to situations we thought would never have resolution. LORD, revive us again!!!
