Scripture Reference: Genesis 25: 29-34

”And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: and Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.“

Now I know you’re thinking: “Wait what did Esau just do? Is he crazy? Has he lost his mind? No way I’m giving away my inheritance for some food.. man, the food probably wasn’t even that good!” I am in total agreement with what you are thinking right now. However, the same mentality that Esau had, we too find ourselves entangled with when it comes down to the choices that we make without thinking the situations we find ourselves faced with through. How many times have we jumped at opportunities only to end up disappointed in the end, all because we went ahead of GOD’s supreme guidance and direction? How many times have we jumped on the horse called “Now or Never” only to find out that what we thought was right for us at the time, only ended up in heartache, pain and a depressive state of mind or worse?

”A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.“ James‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Chill out my beloved Sisters while you’re pointing your fingers right now going: “Umhmmm, that’s right.. this Scripture is for the men!” Wrong! But that’s for another time. Esau was clearly double minded as he weighed his present hunger against what he obviously did not value as much.. his inheritance. As chosen Children of GOD we too have a promised inheritance.. everlasting life in a New Heaven and on a New Earth.

”And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.“

Final Thought: The time has come to make a conscious decision to either accept our inheritance in Christ JESUS or trade it away for a few temporary pleasures and/or possessions while we still have breath in our bodies. Is it worth it to chase everything this World offers and in the end miss out on a new life with GOD our Father where there is no more sickness, no more heartaches, no more dying, no more suffering.. and oh the GLORY that awaits us will be better than anyone of us could ever imagine!!! A promised eternal inheritance or short term gratifications.. you decide…

”For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.“
