Scripture Reference: Luke 8:43-56
In these Scriptures that are written miracles performed by JESUS, a few things stand out but point to one constant revelation.. through faith all things are possible for those who do believe. When I say “believe”, it’s not wishing on a star, or finding a wishbone or a 4-leaf clover.. but much rather it is having unshakable, unwavering faith in JESUS CHRIST and the power of His Name. Think on the miracles that have taken place in your own life and then remember how seemingly impossible the odds were that you would make it through them. The beauty of these Scriptures among many, was that JESUS encouraged those who did not believe to simply believe.. the same as His Word does indeed send strength to us in our weakest moments.
“And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.”
Luke 8:45-48 KJV
The woman who touched JESUS through a crowd of people had faith enough to believe that if she was able to get close to him and merely touch Him, that she would be healed. At the very moment that her faith allowed her to touch Him while believing, JESUS recognized that the power of the healing virtue in Him had matched up with the faith of the woman. Although she thought that she had hid herself from Him, she identified herself as the one who had touched Him and JESUS encouraged her to cheer up because the faith that she had in Him alone had caused her to be healed.
Like the woman with the “issue of blood” (a disease in her blood) who suffered for 12 years, we too have suffered through and continue to experience problems with our physical health, emotional health, mental health and some cases our spiritual health among others. JESUS is waiting for us to simply reach out and touch Him with the measure of faith that He has given to all of us.(Romans 12:3b) He is waiting to make us whole and not only that, but to give us peace!
“While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead: trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.”
Luke 8:49-50 KJV
Another moment presented itself wherein JESUS was approached but this time the situation was different, the young woman was already dead. Again, JESUS encouraged those that were there not to have fear and all that they had to do was to believe that He had the power to bring her back from the current state that she was in and it would happen.
“And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.” Luke 8:52-56 KJV
In the midst of those that were there who were mourning the death of the young woman, JESUS took the opportunity to encourage them again and He said something that none of them believed to the point that they laughed at Him. He told them not to cry because the young woman was merely in a subconscious state even while knowing that they knew that she was dead. After he dismissed those that were present at the time, He spoke to the young woman to get up and the breath of life was restored in her body. Those that did not believe as the Scripture reads witnessed the miracle, and even her parents were astonished to see their daughter alive again.. JESUS for His own reasons told them not to tell anyone about what had happened.
Final Thought: Although there is a lot to unpack in just these few Scriptures, by the grace of GOD I will finish this briefly. It only takes faith and belief in the power of the Name JESUS CHRIST to see changes occur in our lives.. it only takes faith and belief that JESUS is working on our behalf in every situation that we encounter to see those problems moved out of our way.. it only takes faith and belief in GOD’s Plan of Salvation through JESUS CHRIST for our lives to be turned around for His glory and it only takes faith and belief for us to BE MADE WHOLE.. mind, body, heart and Spirit no matter who chooses to believe it or not!!!
