Scripture Reference: Jeremiah 1:4-10

Can I be honest with you all? My Mother (Ma, as I call her) and I had a conversation and GOD allowed her to reveal to me things that I didn’t have a clue about. The rundown: my parents never wanted nor planned for more than 2-4 children of their own (I ended up the last unplanned at number 5), Ma was warned by her doctor that it would be dangerous for her and the baby to have another child after my sister Teresa (child number 4), I was born premature with yellow jaundice and rushed to John Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, MD via helicopter on the second day of my life, and wasn’t expected to live. Talk about mind blowing!!! Countless other occurrences have happened over the years of my life.. nearly drowning, multiple automobile accidents, being shot at, physical altercations that could have ended differently and yet I’m still here by the grace of our GOD!!! So let’s dive into the Scriptures to mirror Jeremiah’s life of purpose with ours.

“Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The LORD told Jeremiah that He already had him in His plans before he was even in his Mother’s belly. Not only that, but he was to be born for the purpose of speaking from GOD to many nations instructing and warning them of the commandments of GOD and the errors of their ways of living. We too have a purpose in this life, not just to be spouses to someone, not just to raise children, not just to pursue certain career paths and certainly not just to exist. Our lives were meant to worship GOD by serving Him in whatever He has specifically designed for each of us ultimately obeying Him.

“Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”

Jeremiah didn’t believe that GOD had chosen him because of his age. GOD shot down Jeremiah’s lame excuse by telling him that his age did not matter and that he would be used to go wherever and to say whatever GOD appointed. This aligns with what Paul said to Timothy: “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Your age does not matter to GOD, whether people accept it or not, we have been born with a purpose to do great things in and through GOD. Let go of the excuses and limitations that you have placed on yourself and even the more that of those who do not want to see you go further than them. Trust in the fact that GOD knew you and He knows who He created more than anyone else in this World.

“Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The LORD encouraged Jeremiah that mere men should not scare him because He was with him and would be with him wherever he went, no matter what. GOD has promised the same for and to each of us. He is calling all that will accept His Will for them, those that will obey His Word and those that are willing to go where He says to go and to say what He gives them to say. A chosen generation!!! “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

“Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.”

The LORD sealed His Word in Jeremiah allowing him to speak things of and from Him that others could not!!! He then informed Jeremiah of what he had specifically and moreover had purposely been chosen to do. When you are chosen there is no compromise of GOD’s Word just to make friends, be popular, be liked by others or even to care what anyone else thinks. You were set apart before your Mother and earthly Father ever knew you!!!

Final Thought: There is absolutely positively no mistaking that GOD is calling everyone who will hear His Voice. If you did not know it before, now you know that your life is way more than working a 9-5 job, your life is way more than following the crowd, your life is way more than raising a family, your life is way more than the titles that man takes on and/or hands out like candy on that trick or treat night in October. We, you and I were PURPOSELY PURPOSED for such a time as this!!!
