A Gratitude Attitude

161st BDS – May 10, 2025

Scripture Reference: Psalm 34, Psalm 138, 2 Samuel 7:21-22

We could all choose to find something to complain about.. if that’s the chosen mentality at the time and in certain moments. We could choose to blame others (sometimes even GOD) for our failures, when going through heartaches, for the outcomes of not waiting on Him and any and everything that the feeble minds of us humans can think of. Sometimes it feels better to look at what someone else is going through in comparison to what we ourselves are going through. That same spirit of complaining is present in this World. World leaders blaming others instead of realizing that the real problem is rooted in their own hearts. Religious leaders in competition with each other so much so that, that spirit is floating through sanctuaries Worldwide and is affecting the congregations. Marriages and relationships on full display and instead of showing solidarity through GOD, it’s a choreographed performance of vanity at its best. Gratitude to GOD even looks like a well scripted playwright that isn’t anymore true than it is a reality. Why is that? What if we faced what David did in his lifetime? How would we respond? David, a Man After GOD’s Own Heart had every reason to assume a position of pouting while pointing fingers and ultimately walk away from GOD. But, instead he didn’t allow his circumstances to overshadow the endless grace of the same GOD Who gave him the strength to defeat a lion, a bear, Goliath and the other 4 giants, his sworn enemies and even his own mistakes mixed with disobedience.. and he did it all while praising GOD!!!

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭34‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

David shamelessly stated that our LORD was Who he ran to knowing that his prayers and pleas for help would be heard. In doing so GOD not only gave him strength to face the toughest battles in his life, He also gave him the courage to stand.

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: Forsake not the works of thine own hands.” Psalm‬ ‭138‬:‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is a show of gratitude when we speak the Word of GOD over and into our lives!!! Just as David praised Him, we can as well knowing that our perfection in Him is constantly on the mind of our LORD. There is victory in allowing GOD’s mercy to sustain us every day of our lives and in humility we know that He alone is the giver of life and of death.

“For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them. Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.”

‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Our GOD doesn’t need anyone else’s approval to choose you, use you, anoint you, appoint you and/or bless you. He continues to bring us through our own mess because He cares just that much and more than we could ever imagine or believe. He will do it how He wants to, when He wants to, why He wants to, wherever and to whomever He pleases to. GOD does it so that we know without a doubt, that it was Him Who set us free from the prison of the things that we used to do, changes us from who we used to be, protects from the evil that is all around us daily, and provides us with everything that we need!!! It doesn’t matter who we have in our circles of life.. no parents, no spouses, no natural or Spiritual family, no besties, no Pastors, and certainly no other god could ever be greater than, stand beside you longer, love you better and literally save your life through the in dwelling of His Spirit in your soul like our GOD!!! He speaks to us all through His Word so that we both see, hear and know that we all should have a GRATITUDE ATTITUDE!!!
