Scripture Reference: Luke 19:12-17
It’s easy to look at what we don’t have by looking at what others do have. We are encouraged in the Scriptures not to be eager to possess things especially the things that others have. (Exodus 20:17, Romans 7:7, Hebrews 13:5) In this passage of Scriptures, JESUS speaks in a parable
of the reward of being faithful to what has been given to us no matter how small it may seem in the minds of even smaller minded people.. anything and everything that is given to us by our Father in Heaven, is a blessing and in no way to be taken for granted. (James 1:17)
So let’s dive in!!!
“He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.” Luke 19:12-13 KJV
JESUS was speaking of Himself going away to prepare a place for those who GOD our Father in Heaven has chosen to be saved. At the same time, they (we) were given assignments to be witnesses for Him, to live for Him and to show the very characteristics of Him to the World around us until He comes back for His Church.
“But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.” Luke 19:14 KJV
JESUS foretold of how He would be despised and rejected by the World (Isaiah 53:3) and even hated by those who opposed His teachings. The same way He is ignored by many still today.
“And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.” Luke 19:15 KJV
When JESUS returns, we will all stand before Him and give an account for the way we lived, acted towards others, what we told others about Him and for what we didn’t tell others about Him. (Romans 14:12)
“Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.”
Luke 19:16-17 KJV
JESUS stated that we will be rewarded for the good that we did and do in His Name because we were faithful to Him and attended to the work that we were given by Him to do. So for what we have each been purposed to do while we live and breathe, the reward is eternal life with GOD our Father in a new Heaven and new Earth. (Isaiah 65:17, 66:22)
Final Thought: The time has come that we are to stand up for The Kingdom of our GOD. No longer bound by the limitations that man sets on us, but the more we are to be doers of His Word and not just hearers. (James 1:22) Once we hear the truth of His Word, we are charged to uphold His every Word to whomever and wherever we go. This is a faithful saying that, “..He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6) My Brothers and Sisters, take ahold of eternal life and never let it go, having all faith that one day we will see Him as He is!!! (1 John 3:2) So take great joy and humility in being available to be used by GOD and FAITHFUL OVER A FEW THINGS…
