Scripture Reference: Matthew 8:1-4, Mark 1:40-45
In this current society, the want to be noticed, become famous, be seen and be liked by all has taken more importance in the lives of some than the Creator Who actually gave us the breath in our bodies to do the things that we do. Even the good things that we do should be done in secret so that our Father in Heaven, Who knows all things (including why we do what we do and with what heartfelt intentions) will Himself make known to others those things by blessing us for all to see.(Matthew 6:2-4)
So let’s dive in!
“When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.” Matthew 8:1-4 KJV
A man with the disease of leprosy came to JESUS and asked Him to heal him and JESUS did just that. Then JESUS instructed him not to tell anyone of the miracle that He had performed in healing the man, but rather that the man should be on his way to show others (the priests) that he was healed from the disease while offering a sacrifice from the Mosaic practices as evidence.(Leviticus 14)
“And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; and saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.”
Mark 1:40-45 KJV
Final Thought: JESUS specifically told the healed man not to say anything to anyone of Who had healed him because the glory belonged to GOD our Father in Heaven and because it would bring unwanted attention to Him. The man did it anyway and the result was that JESUS could not even enter into the city of Galilee and instead went to the desert but, it did not stop those who had heard of what He had had done from coming to find Him there.
What arenas like social media and other platforms don’t prepare you for, is just how open you will be to attacks no matter if you are speaking the truth or not, doing good deeds or not and the cost of showing yourself to the World. All attention isn’t good attention and our intentions will someday be judged by our Father in Heaven. So be wise, do good and be sure that your heart’s intent is in the right place, so that you avoid THE ERRORS OF PURSUING FAME…
