The Need To Let Go 178th BDS – January 29, 2026

Scripture Reference: Mark 10:26-31
What have you been holding onto in your heart and/or in your mind that is keeping you from a closer walk with GOD? Who are you willing to release from your life to fulfill GOD’s plan for your life? Are you willing to leave others behind, to move forward into your eternal destiny in CHRIST JESUS? In this passage of Scriptures, JESUS points out the fact that no one was willing to give up their lifestyle for Him nor for the purposes, benefits and interests of The Gospel (the absolute, undeniable and unquestionable truth of GOD’s Word).

So, let’s dive in!!!

“And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”
Mark 10:26-27 KJV
JESUS had just told His Disciples that it is hard for a rich man to enter into Heaven, given that they already chose to have their life’s reward on Earth through worldly gains. They questioned among themselves who even had the possibility to be saved. JESUS countered and simply said to them that mankind looks at what he had said to them as something that could not be done. As if it wasn’t possible for someone to be content with what GOD allowed them to have in this world because there was always the human desire for more. Then He pointed them to the help from our Father in Heaven and that through Him nothing would be impossible especially when He promised to provide everything that we need, including the riches of our glorious inheritance as Children of GOD, to be given strength to endure through His Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins through the grace of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. (Philippians 4:19, Ephesians 3:16, Ephesians 1:7)

“Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.”
Mark 10:28 KJV
Peter in his ignorance (just as some actually think today) stated that he and the other Disciples had left all they had behind to follow Him. How absolutely vain that hot take by Peter was. As if willingly they had followed CHRIST and to some of you it appears as if they did as well. Remember, JESUS had to literally perform miracles in front of their eyes and even after seeing what they saw, there was still doubt in their hearts and unfaithful questions racing through their minds. (John 2:1-11, Luke 5:1-11, Matthew 8:14-15, Mark 4:35-41, Matthew 14:22-33 just to show you a few of the many)

“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”
Mark 10:29-30 KJV
JESUS quickly shredded Peter’s blind statement into pieces with the double-edged sword of His knowledge and wisdom. (Hebrews 4:12) He proceeded to “leave no stone unturned” in His approach to correcting Peter. JESUS said that no man including the disciples had chosen to leave what they had behind for Him nor for The Gospel (don’t let this hurt your ego, but the same applies today and here’s why…). {JESUS clearly made it known that none of us chose Him, on the contrary He chose us! (John 15:16)} He followed that up by saying that those that actually are willing to give up their comfortable lifestyles and suffered through the persecutions that come along with a life in CHRIST, will receive more than they ever would have while in their “comfort zone” and will gain eternal life in the world to come. (Isaiah 66:22, Revelation 21:1, 7)

Final Thought: “But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.” Mark 10:31 KJV
Now I know for some, this stung because some believe that they have truly given up a lot to follow CHRIST. Like literally some who read this will start to recount all that they left behind from drugs and alcohol to fornication and the club/street life. Some will even preemptively think: “I know that I should be one of the first to enter into glory!!!” Let this final Scripture renew your minds, meaning to give you a new and fresh perspective going forward.. if you thought that because you have served GOD and/or have been saved for a long time, have labored in The Gospel and/or are entitled to be at the front of the line, take a step back because JESUS clearly states the complete opposite. So what remains now are these thoughts: Are you really ready to surrender all to our GOD in JESUS CHRIST? To go where He says to go, when He says to go even if you don’t understand and/or think that it’s impossible that He really wants you to? Are you really all in for The Name of JESUS CHRIST and The Gospel of our GOD and FATHER in Heaven? Think on these things, because in truly serving and living for Him there is.. THE NEED TO LET GO…
