Scripture Reference: Acts 1:4-8, Acts 2:1-4

We often hear the phrase: “You were in the right place, at the right time!” Then, we attribute it something spectacular or wonderful that just happened to occur because of where we physically were at the time. Things like walking through a parking lot and finding a hundred dollar bill laying there or being the recipient of a valuable gift during a store giveaway event. But, what if you were told to stay at a location that made no sense to you at all, with a promise that something extraordinary would take place that would change your life forever? In these Scriptures, that is exactly what happened!!!

“and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.” Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

JESUS told the Apostles that He had chosen to wait at Jerusalem in a room that had been prepared for that specific moment in time and that they were not to leave because GOD our Father in Heaven had promised to give them a gift, the gift!

“For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

JESUS recounted to His Apostles what had already taken place which was their baptism in water for the removing of their sins, but then He told them of the gift of the Holy Spirit which they would receive in just a few days.

“When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts‬ ‭1‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Apostles thinking of natural things asked JESUS if Israel would be restored to which JESUS told them that it is only GOD our Father in Heaven who has the power to know what was to come. He followed that up by letting them know that they too would be given power through the Holy Spirit and they had been chosen to go out and tell others in all kinds of places of what and Who had changed their lives.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Apostles and those that were with them in the upper room had waited with patience just as they were instructed to do by JESUS and at the perfectly appointed time they each received what had been promised to them by GOD Himself!!! They received the power of the Holy Ghost which filled them up on the inside and caused them to speak in other languages of the glory of GOD!!! (Acts 2:6-11)

Final Thought: Just as sure as GOD wakes us and allows us to wake up each and every morning to go about our daily routines, know that to those that truly believe in His One True Plan of Salvation, there is an appointed time for you to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!!! For some reading this, you’ve already experienced your “Day of Pentecost”, but it doesn’t end there. You have been chosen just as the Apostles were to tell everyone you know, and others everywhere you go about the life changing, heart fixing, and mind renewing power that was given to you! All it takes is faith in the Name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST and being in the RIGHT place, at the PERFECT time!!!
