Scripture Reference: Judges 6:36-40, Judges 7:2-3, 4-5, 7

How often have we had that “deer in the headlights” look on our faces when it seems that or actually is that we find ourselves at a place where the road ahead splits in two? Where the way to go is as unknown as tomorrow’s events? Or, even when GOD has sent the signs to direct us, we still hesitate on idle mode often mistrusting Him? Worse, when we tend to listen to folks who seemingly have it all together but, in reality they too are in the neutral gear uncertain of the path to take forward in their own lives and situations. Gideon was shown by GOD that he was chosen to lead the people, but as we read in these passages of Scripture, he still needed proof. Sound familiar?

“And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.” ‭

Judges‬ ‭6‬:‭36‬-‭37‬ KJV‬‬

Imagine telling GOD, “Okay, I have to see it to believe it!” To those that believe with unwavering faith, to those that have been called, and to those that have been chosen by GOD.. He has already given you the victory!!! Yes, even when you doubt your own self!

“And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.”

Gideon knew full well that he was wrong for asking for proof from GOD. He even had the nerve to ask GOD not to be angry with him for asking Him to prove what GOD had already promised would happen. If GOD has said in His Word that He knows His plans for you of peace and not of evil (Jeremiah 29:11), then that’s what He means! When He said that He is with you, will not fail you nor forsake (take His love away) you (Deuteronomy 31:8) that’s exactly what He means!

“And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.” Judges‬ ‭6‬:‭40‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So GOD chose to show Gideon so that Gideon would not have anymore excuses. Think of all the signs that GOD has shown you and is still showing you that He is The One that is keeping you moving forward when everything inside screams, “NO LORD, that cannot be true!”

“And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.”

We don’t need an Army of people around us (especially the scared) that can’t see that the battles in this life are already won because our GOD promised and has guaranteed the “W”, if we only believe in Him and obey His every Word!

“And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.”

Part of knowing that you are on the right path (as GOD showed Gideon), is allowing GOD to place the right people, with a like mindset for GOD around you. Think about all of the people you have met in your life.. now think about how many you have for one reason or another left behind (with still more to go, family included!). That isn’t a coincidence or a travesty.. that’s GOD knowing who and what is best for you!

Final Thought: “And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.”

When we allow GOD to show us the way that we should go.. when we allow Him to remove, shake us free from and place us away from others who will hold us back from the destiny that He has for us.. when He gives us the faithful few that He knows we will need in whatever capacity to keep walking with us towards Him all the way to glory.. then my Brothers and Sisters, YOU’RE ON THE RIGHT PATH!!!
